Lead Engineering Technician

Position Reports to: Sr. Manager Program Management

Function/Department: Engineering

Location of position: San Jose, California



We are seeking a talented Lead Engineering Technician to join one of the leading optical components and module R&D teams in the world. You will be performing engineering support activities related to NPI optical products development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing technical lead and support to other technicians
  • Providing daily lab operation tasks to other technicians in line with engineering services goals
  • Reading, redlining schematics, and performing required schematic base rework & debug
  • Performing RMA product testing on Legacy Test Stations for 40G Legacy products
  • Developing RMA FAR (Failure Analysis Report)
  • Troubleshooting PCBA for both NPI and legacy products
  • Supporting RF Testing environment and working with RF test equipment and RF probes
  • Supporting the operation of die bonder and wire bonder in the clean room
  • Building and operating NPI test stations
  • Training production personnel on the operation of NPI production test equipment
  • Maintaining lab supply inventory
  • Maintaining an orderly and clean lab

Job Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting NPI (start-up) development environment
  • Proficiencies with performing tests on high speed optical components and modules
  • Proficiencies with assembly tools: solder iron, microscope, fiber splicers
  • Proficiencies with wire bonders, die bonders highly desirable
  • Proficiencies with scalar network analyzer (SNA), vector network analyzer (VNA), spectrum analyzer, noise figure meter, power meter volt meter, phase noise tester, oscilloscope, power supplies
  • Good command of the English language (written and oral)
