Principal Engineer, Test

Job Purpose:

The Principal Engineer, Test at Oclaro – Penang will be responsible for test engineering activities spanning New Production Introduction to high volume sustaining engineering at Oclaro’s contract manufacturer.  Products include tunable lasers, optical receivers, and high bit rate (10G, 40G and 100G) optical transponder sub-systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Transfer new products from R&D to contract manufacture (CM)
  • Develop and modify new and existing test automation for the assigned product families
  • Develop database schema and table structure
  • Manage sustaining and continuous improvement of test processes
  • Develop Data Report Automation such as SPC, Yield trend
  • Write comprehensive test specifications
  • Write and document Test procedure, troubleshooting guides, etc
  • Characterise and release test stations to production following methodologies such as GR&R
  • Support continuous improvement to optimise capital expenses

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in electronics engineering, computer science, physics or equivalent
  • 5 years minimum experience with optics
  • 2 years minimum experience with testing equipment

Skills/Competencies Essential:

  • Experience with high bit rate optical transponders, line card and terminal equipment designs
  • Knowledge of characterization and test methodologies for ultra-long haul transmission equipment and line systems
  • Experiences in C++, C#, and SQL are a must. LabVIEW/Python experience is desirable
  • Experienced in test methods and algorithm development
  • Excellence in data analysis, problem-solving and failure analysis
  • Strong instrumentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with test and characterization of optical transmission products
  • Strong networking skills
  • Ability to travel abroad is required
  • Good communication skills are required
