JOB TITLE:
Entry Level Optical Designer
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Routing new product development and innovation
SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
New product design and development in an innovation center. Ability to work cross functionally and geographies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Optical design, development, and testing of new optical modules, subsystems, and integrated photonic solutions for optical communications systems
- Multi-disciplinary system integration covering mechanics, electronics, software, and reliability. We expect experienced candidates to lead projects as system integrators and inexperienced candidates to grow into that role
- Analyzing and responding to customer and marketing requirements
- Generation of intellectual property with high commercial value
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS or PhD in optics, physics, or related field
- Entry level experience in optical design
- Ability to self manage and receive little instruction on day to day work activities
- Self starter and quick learner
- Understanding of control systems
- Must be willing to relocate to Horseheads, NY
- Willing to travel internationally
