ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop new or custom designed EDFA based solutions.
- Analyze and respond to customer and marketing requirements to meet new and specific customer needs.
- Work with mechanical, hardware design, software, test engineers, and technicians to build, test and verify the new products.
- Integrate and summarize all technical perspectives at milestones and present reports to core team to achieve design target.
- Support the transfer of new designs to manufacturing, and resolve any technical design issues. Interact with the new product introduction group to assist in the introduction to manufacturing of new designs.
- Use existing simulation tools and experimental expertise to characterize prototypes.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master degree or above in Optics, Electro-optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering with strong optics and fiber optic background.
- A minimum of three years of experience in optical modeling, design and product development.
- Comprehensive knowledge of active and passive components, subsystem modules, and their test methods in optical fiber communication.
- Ability to use optical simulation tools, Labview, VB, some data acquisition programming, and to characterize prototypes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of optical test solutions, and has the ability to do experiments and root cause analysis. Ability to consolidate and analyze data.
- Ability to solve complex issues in optical design and product development.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to lead others and to work effectively with team members.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Project management experience is desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
